Poker is a card game of chance and risk-taking, where players compete for the \u201cpot\u201d or pot total of all bets placed during one deal. Minimizing losses with poor hands and maximizing winnings with good ones is an underlying skill that every Poker player must master.<\/p>\n
Before cards are even dealt, the rules of the Poker game being played may require that each player make an initial contribution, called an ante, to the pot to start the round. Once the antes have been made, the dealer then shuffles the deck and deals each player a hand of cards. If a player wants to match the amount of money that has already been put into the pot by the person to their left, they can say \u201ccall\u201d or “I call” and then raise their own bet by the same amount.
